ROSEMONT, Ill. (FOX 32 News) - Legendary country music artist Garth Brooks kicked off his world tour in Chicago Thursday night, prompting Gov. Pat Quinn to call Illinois the "land of Garth Brooks."

Brooks has a lot of love for Chicago. He showed that love by performing the first of 11 straight shows at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont.

The shows are technically sold out, but some seats are still available.

During a press conference Thursday, Brooks announced that for the first time, his entire musical catalogue will be available in a digital format under a new music provider "Ghost Tunes." Brooks is reportedly a co-owner of the company.

Quinn sat in the front row as Brooks took questions before a concert kicking off his world tour.
