Bishop Trotter shows support for Oberweis in U.S. Senate race

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Another prominent Chicago figure has joined the crusade to elect Illinois' "dairy king" to the U.S. Senate.

Bishop Larry Trotter has thrown his support behind Republican Jim Oberweis. And the decision may not have anything to do with religious preferences, but instead, with Oberweis' ability to connect with the African American community.

Sunday, Oberweis attended church services at Bishop Trotter's parish to demonstrate that he has a new relationship with the African American community.

Bishop Trotter has said that Senator Dick Durbin has neglected the South Side and the issues are not getting better. He went on to say Durbin doesn't return his phone calls.

FOX 32's Joanie Lum has more on this story.
