CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Lincoln Park Zoo celebrated the first birthday of its baby black rhino King on Tuesday with a rhino-sized party.

King, an Eastern black rhinoceros, is the first calf of its kind to be born at the zoo since 1989, according to a statement from the zoo.

King and his mother, Kapuki, celebrated at the Regenstein African Journey with a 10-by-4-foot birthday cake piñata and lots of willow branches to munch on.

The party got even more exciting when Kapuki knocked the cake over with her head.

The species was nearly driven to extinction in the 1990s, but recent estimates put the number of wild black rhinos at around 5,000.
