Two Dead Following Violent Night In South Philadelphia

Posted: Updated:

Two people are dead, including a teenager, following a violent night in South Philadelphia.

FOX 29's Steve Keeley went live at police headquarters Thursday morning.

A teenage boy was killed on the streets not far from where the Taney Little League Home Field is located as the game was ending just past 10pm Wednesday night.

A male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and camouflage was seen running away after firing five shots hitting the 16-year old at least twice. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Police tell us the suspect was last seen running south on 21st Street towards Tasker Street.

Crime surveillance cameras were installed at the intersection just several feet from where the shoot took place. Police are hoping those cameras recorded something that can help them identify the shooter.

Four blocks over on the 1200 block of South 25th Street, a man was found dead inside a parked 2014 Jeep. The window rolled down and doors shut when police officers came to the scene. Detectives found two shell cases on the highway just feet away from the driver door.

The victim is a man still listed by officials as John Doe because of the damage. He was not driving the rental car with identification.

Police don't have a motive for both shootings at this time.
