CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed veteran goalie Michael Leighton to a one-year contract.

Leighton was originally drafted by the Blackhawks in 1999 and played more than 40 games for them. He later played for the Philadelphia Flyers and allowed Patrick Kane's Stanley Cup-clinching goal in 2010.

Leighton, 22, spent last season with the KHL's Donbass Donetsk, where he helped the club reach the second round of the playoffs. He shared third in the league with 20 regular-season wins, ranked seventh with a 1.74 GAA and ninth with a .934 SV%.
