Teens Flock To The One Direction Concert

PHILADELPHIA -

Teens that can't get enough pop music had their minds headed in 'One Direction' on Wednesday evening in South Philly.

The past winners of the UK X-Factor continued their stadium world tour at Lincoln Financial Field.

One Direction is so popular they have almost 5 times the Twitter followers that Pope Francis does.

While there weren't 20 million fans there Wednesday, all the screaming teenage girls certainly made it sound that way.

Electricity filled Lincoln Financial Field.

For two nights, the home of Eagles has been taken over by 5 Seconds of Summer and five guys from across the pond.

“Niall, Harry, Liam, Zayn, Louis! That's One Direction," a group of teenage girls screamed.

Even the moms got into the spirit of One Direction.

“baby you light up my world like nobody else…” they sang

It left their daughters, shaking their heads.

Amid the swarms of teenage girls, the occasional guy played the role of chaperone at the Where We Are World Tour.

“I hate it," one man said laughing.

“Do you know what you've gotten yourself into?" Fox 29's Drew Dickman asked.

"Yes. At work they told me," Brandon Murphy said.

For 11-year-old Paige Murphy that makes him dad of the year.

“I'm too excited," she said.

Despite the high costs of parking and merchandise, Molly Boatman from the Cincinnati made sure she didn't go home empty handed.

“I got a bunch of T-shirts, a laminate, a tour book and some soft shirts," Boatman said.

Some Directioners who traveled far and wide to see their five favorite heartthrobs hoped to walk away with more than just a catchy melody in their head.

“I'm getting married to Liam tonight. I'm getting married to Niall. I'm marrying Harry Styles," a group dressed in wedding attire said.

Some people listened to the concert from outside, something Tom Sweitzer said he was happy to do.

“We rented a 15 passenger bus and we came up from Ocean City and I'm responsible to make sure everyone gets home safely," he said.

One Direction will be playing another show at the Linc Thursday night.

Tickets are still available.
