JOLIET, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A person was struck by a Metra train at Joliet's Union Station Wednesday morning, causing delays on the Rock Island District and Heritage Corridor lines.

The person was hit by Heritage Corridor train No. 918, which was scheduled to leave the Joliet station at 7:05 a.m., according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller.

The person was taken to a hospital, although further details on his or her condition were not immediately known, Miller said. Joliet police did not immediately return a call for comment.

Train 918, the last inbound Heritage Corridor train of the morning, which was scheduled to depart Joliet at 7:05 a.m. is operating about 75 to 80 minutes behind schedule, according to Metra's website.

Rock Island District train No. 414, which was scheduled to leave Joliet at 7:17 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 8:24 a.m., is delayed by 10 to 15 minutes, Miller said.
