Bridge work to affect inbound Ike overnight Tuesday

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Some lanes on the inbound Eisenhower Expressway will be closed Tuesday night to allow for bridge repairs on the city's West Side.

Starting at 8 p.m., three of the four inbound lanes on I-290 will be closed from Austin to Keller to allow crews to remove and replace structural steel on the Keeler Avenue bridge, the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a statement.

Intermittent 15-minute closures of all inbound lanes will happen between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., IDOT said. All lanes will reopen at 5 a.m.

The work will take place again Thursday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., IDOT said. The $618,000 project is slated to be completed next month.

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time, IDOT said.
