Police Search For Suspect In Frankford ATM Robbery

Posted: Updated:

Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect who was caught on camera robbing a woman at an ATM in Frankford in board daylight on August 3rd.

Authorities say that a 64-year-old woman was withdrawing cash from an ATM at the Wells Fargo Bank located on the 5100 block of Frankford Avenue around 10:20 a.m. when she was approached from behind by the suspect. The woman was completing her transaction when the suspect snatched the cash from her hand, injuring her shoulder in the struggle. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to Aria Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

The victim spoke only with FOX 29's Dave Kinchen.

"And if I had my cane I would have cracked his head."

The victim, Brenda, has her share of anger and is nursing her shoulder back to health.

"He reached over and we was tussling cause I was going to hold on to my money,” she said.

Brenda was dressed in her Sunday best and says she was getting her offering for church when the man rushed her.

“It's just that I felt violated that you could come over here, and you see a person dressed in church clothes, you don't have any fear of God?” she said.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'8"-5'10?, 175-185 lbs., medium build, who was wearing a white t-shirt, and black shorts.

The ATM camera caught a good look at the suspect. The video shows the suspect smiling around the area moments before the robbery.
