CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Bond has been set for two suburban men who were shot at by an off-duty Chicago Police detective Wednesday night after they allegedly tried stealing from a Norwood Park Jewel Wednesday night.

About 7:10 p.m., the detective was shopping at the Jewel at 7342 W. Foster Ave. when store employees told her there was a theft in progress and pointed out the robbers, who have been identified as 30-year-old Jonathan Koziol and 29-year-old Robert Hack, police said.

The two had gone to the parking lot and entered a vehicle they loaded with the stolen merchandise, police said. When the detective approached them, the driver accelerated the vehicle at her, who then shot at them in “fear of her life,” police said. No one was injured.

The two were arrested and charged with one felony count each of aggravated assault to a peace officer and retail theft with a previous conviction.

On Friday, Koziol was ordered held on a $275,000 bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. Hack was ordered held on a $200,000 bond.

Koziol, of Schiller Park, was sentenced to six years in prison for armed home invasion in July 2004, court records show. He also pleaded guilty to retail theft in April 2002 and was sentenced to community service, records said.

Hack, of Des Plaines, was sentenced in October 2013 to three years in prison for a robbery conviction, records show.

They are both next scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, the sheriff's office said.
