Disabled teen uses wakeboarding for therapy

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -

It’s the final week at Youth Water Sports Camp in Cartersville and one out-of-town camper is making quite a splash!

Justin Crilly, 16, is in town from New York for camp at Terminus Wake Park.

“I love training him,” said camp trainer McKenna Kauffman.

The teenager has Cerebral Palsy and he’s legally blind.

“If you’re wearing someone else’s prescription glasses, it’s kind of like that,” said Crilly.

Crilly tells FOX 5 he doesn’t let his disabilities define him. “I get made fun of for my disability, but when I’m out in the water nothing matters.”

Crilly is even competing in a contest this weekend called the Triple Crown. He’ll be in the Open Men’s Features division and there will be a huge crowd there to cheer him on.
