After more than 11 years, a settlement for $2 million has been reached for one of the victims who died at the E2 Chicago nightclub.
Officials say, 24-year-old Nita Anthony died after being crushed by other party goers who were trying to escape the club following a fight in 2003.
The stampede at the E2 nightclub left 21 people dead. The victims were crushed in a stairwell after someone used pepper spray to break up a fight inside the club.
The club owners were later convicted of criminal contempt for not keeping the facility up to code.
Dwain Kyles and Calvin Hollins were found guilty in 2009 of violating a judge's order before the tragedy that they close the club's second floor. They received two-year prison sentences.
Two people were killed and and at least 12 other people were wounded — including two people on the Kennedy and Dan Ryan expressways — in shootings across the city since Friday night.
