Traffic Watch: Lollapalooza

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

As America's largest music festival prepares to kick off this weekend, some new Lollapalooza closures went into affect after rush hour Wednesday morning.

Columbus is now closed from Roosevelt to Monroe. The closure along Balbo and Jackson now extends from Lake Shore Drive to Michigan Avenue. Finally, Congress Parkway is blocked off at Michigan Avenue as well.

The city expects at least 100,000 people daily to the three-day music event, which is celebrating its 10th year in Chicago. The sold-out festival begins on Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3.

Remember, if you're planning on coming downtown this weekend, the increased pedestrian traffic and street closures will make it tough to get around. Public transportation is strongly recommended, but if you plan on driving, give yourself a lot of extra time and be careful where you park.
