Rockdale Co. man dies after altercation with teen

Posted: Updated:
CONYERS, Ga. - Police say a young man is being charged with involuntary manslaughter following a fight Friday night.

According to Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a fight on Alexandria Lane off McDaniel Mill Road. They found 53-year-old Michael Henderson on the ground in a driveway. He was rushed to an area hospital where he later died.

Investigators say Henderson got into an argument that turned physical with a 16-year-old boy who was over his house playing basketball. That's when Henderson collapsed from what is believed to be a medical condition.

The teen was taken into custody a short time later. He was taken to the Rockdale Regional Youth Detention Center.

Henderson was convicted in 1991 for the stabbing death of his first wife after they separated. That conviction was later overturned and in 1995, the case was dismissed to further the investigation. New information led to a grand jury indictment last year.

Henderson and his family moved to the Conyers area four years ago. He had no prior criminal charges in Rockdale County.
