Taste of Chicago open Sunday after weather closure

Posted: Updated:

CHICAGO (AP) - Authorities say the Taste of Chicago will be open on Sunday, a day after the festival was canceled because of heavy rains and flooding.

The city sent out a notification on Sunday morning saying the Taste of Chicago would open "on time as scheduled" at 10 a.m.

On Saturday the festival was canceled around noon as forecasters warned of storms.

The annual food and cultural festival is one of the city's premier summer events, drawing thousands of visitors to Grant Park. It began Wednesday and runs through Sunday.

Saturday's events were to have included concerts by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and roots-rock songwriter Lucinda Williams.

The Taste says on its Facebook page that all tickets purchased online would be refunded automatically.
