Two taxicab drivers were robbed at gunpoint in the South Side Grand Boulevard neighborhood throughout June and July, police said Saturday.
In both incidents, a man hailed a taxi and, at the end of the ride, pulled out a handgun and demanded the driver’s money and cellphone, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.
The robberies occurred about 2:30 a.m. July 2 in the 4800 block of South Michigan Avenue and about 3:40 a.m. June 14 in the 4700 block of South Michigan Avenue, police said.
The suspect is described as a black man, between the ages of 20 and 29, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-8 and weighing between 160 and 170 pounds.
