Girl Scarred By Dog Attack Fitted For Prosthetic Eye

Posted: Updated:

Naples, Fla.-Victoria Wilcher made headlines after her family claimed she was kicked out of a Mississippi KFC because her severe facial scars and wounds allegedly upset other costumers.

Controversy surrounds the claim, with some accusing the family of creating a hoax.

Victoria was left scarred after she was mauled by three Pit Bulls, which left her with one eye.

Despite all the controversy, one Florida doctor is giving Victoria a new prosthetic eye for free.

Ocularist Raymond Peters examined Victoria on Tuesday to begin fitting her for the artificial eye.

"She's been traumatized so much that she's skittish," Dr. Peters said. "You have to approach her very gently," he said.

He says he needs to see how much space is in her heavily damaged eye socket, to fit her with a conformer, which supports the iris of the artificial eye.

But first, he needs to gain her trust.  Dr. Peters says so far it seems like Victoria does trust him. His wife even got her a doll to take her mind away from the pain.

According to Dr. Peters, to probe more around the eye, he'll have to take her to a specialist.

"We'll let the doctor sedate her, and that way she won't feel a thing," Peters said.

Dr. Peters says he’ll do anything possible to make sure Victoria gets an eye.
