LIVONIA, Mich. (WJBK) - 33-year-old Alicia Karacson of Livonia donated more than half of her liver to save the life of Mike Oziem,  her best friend's father-in-law.

For 20-years he had been suffering from hemochromatosis, a build up of iron in his blood that had recently become so toxic he could barely function.
Oziem is a new grandfather and Alicia wanted to be sure he would be around for his grandchild.

So she got tested and she was a match.  She became a living donor.  A team at Henry Ford Health Systems replaced Mike's liver with Alicia's healthy liver.

The day after 60% of Alicia's liver was removed, while she was still recovering in the hospital, there was bad news at home.  Her beloved dog Zoshi, a 40-pound pug, escaped from her backyard.

Alicia was excited to come home and see his furry little face during her recovery time, but her best friend was gone.

Alicia had taken Zoshi's collar off to give him a bath before she went to the hospital, so he wasn't wearing a collar when he wandered off.

She's checked the shelters near her home in Livonia.  So far, no luck. She's hoping someone took him in.

Some details about the dog:  Black pug with a little patch of white on his chest.  He has a cyst in his ear.  He wen missing from his home near Inkster and 7 Mile Road on June 17th.

UPDATE TO THE STORY: ZOSHI HAS BEEN FOUND.  Somehow Zoshi ended up in the city of Taylor after wandering into someone's backyard. For the moment, this family wants to remain anonymous.  Nobody knew who the dog belonged to because it did not have a collar.  The good news is that Zoshi is back with Alicia and her family.  We've added a photo of Zoshi as seen in the back of the car with two kids belonging to Alicia's boyfriend.
