CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Two teen boys were shot — one fatally — in Grand Boulevard Monday night.

About 10:40 p.m. the two were talking to several people in a black van in the 600 block of East 50th Place, police said. Someone inside the van then opened fire, striking the 17-year-old in the chest and the 15-year-old in the upper right arm.

Michael Patton, 17, of the 600 block of East 51st Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:08 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The 15-year-old boy was shot in the upper right arm and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in “stable” condition, police said.
