CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A woman pushing her newborn baby in a stroller Saturday evening in the West Town neighborhood was grabbed by a man who tried to pull her down an alley, police said.

The woman was walking in the 800 block of North Rockwell Street about 5:30 p.m. when a male grabbed her by the hips from behind and started pulling her down an alley, according to an alert from Area Central detectives.

A witness confronted the male and the woman broke free and ran home with her baby, police said.

The suspect is described as a 17-18 year old black male, about 5-foot-7, between 190-200 pounds with a thick upper body and thin legs, police said. He has a short black afro, a chubby face and some facial hair, possibly a mustache with a goatee.

He was wearing a red t-shirt with a black print on the back, black shorts with marijuana leaf prints and white gym shoes, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
