POSITION: Litigation Support Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

Participates as a team member and assists attorneys, paralegals and litigation technology support professionals by providing a supportive role in the work required to support the firm's clients and litigation matters. This hands-on position requires basic facility with databases and computer technology used in all aspects of litigation technology support. Responsible for database maintenance, importing and exporting data, data manipulation and conversions, scanning paper documents, organizing case-related data on the network, performing quality control procedures, and maintaining media, data and production indices. This position reports to the Litigation Technology Supervisor or Manager and may be directed by the Litigation Technology Specialists, Litigation Support Senior Analysts and Litigation Support Analysts. Availability for overtime and flexibility for travel are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides hands-on technical support for case related tasks such as database creation and maintenance, imports images, data and transcripts into databases, searches data, exports data, reformats and converts data, designs forms and reports, runs e-discovery processes and assists with scanning, OCR and coding. Utilizes Relativity, Introspect, Concordance, LAW, Microsoft Access, Excel, Adobe, LiveNote, CaseMap, Outlook, Lotus Notes, Sanction, dtSearch, and text editing and conversion tools.

Follows established procedures to complete individual, team and department deliverables. Verifies data integrity. Complies with established standards for quality control and application use. Troubleshoots data files as needed and performs testing to ensure quality of data loads and exports. Troubleshoots database issues and works with the Litigation Technology Specialists, Litigation Support Senior Analysts, and Litigation Support Analysts to determine the most effective way to resolve database issues.

Assists with electronic document productions, including production of native or image files, burning CD/DVDs, and performing batch printing processes.

Maintains organized records of media, data and productions.

Provides one-on-one litigation technology assistance for routine questions such as locating and opening a database, editing records, basic searching, burning CDs, etc.

Complies with department and firm administrative procedures and policies.

Assists with department projects as needed and performs other work-related duties as assigned by a Litigation Technology Supervisor or Manager.

Responsible for working on client, firm and department related projects for 1600 hours per year with a minimum of 1500 hours billed to client-related work.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree and prior office, information technology, or legal experience is a plus. The position will involve contact with lawyers and paralegals and require solid interpersonal, communication and technology skills. Microsoft Access or litigation support database experience preferred. The candidate must be a self-starter, highly organized and a team player. Knowledge of MS Access, Visual Basic, XML or SQL programming a plus.
