The person was struck by Metra Rock Island District Line train No. 607 near West 90th Street and South Hermitage Avenue, north of the 91st Street – Beverly Hills station, according to Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile. According to the train’s schedule, it would have been at the location where the person was hit about 4:10 p.m., Reile said.

The person, whose age and gender were not immediately known, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, Reile said.

The train left LaSalle Street station at 3:50 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Blue Island Vermont Street at 4:33 p.m. It was stopped at 91st Street after the incident but resumed service shortly after 5 p.m. and was operating about 55 minutes behind schedule, Reile said.

Trains travelling through the line’s Beverly Sub-District were stopped Thursday afternoon but had also resumed service shortly after 5 p.m., according service alerts on Metra’s website.
