A man was killed and at least five other people were wounded in shootings that happened Wednesday in Chicago.

About 10:50 p.m., a man was shot and killed in Englewood, police said.

The 54-year-old got out of a tan-colored sedan and was talking to another male in the 6500 block of South Sangamon Street when a third male walked out of a gangway and fired shots, striking the 54-year-old in the head, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the death.

The most recent non-fatal shooting happened about 4 p.m. in the 3900 block of South Lake Park Avenue.

A 17-year-old boy told police he was shot in the right arm, and he took himself to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where he is in “stable” condition, police said. A source said the boy is a documented gang member.

Earlier Wednesday afternoon, a 23-year-old man was shot in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side. The man was shot in the knee at 12:48 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Augusta Boulevard, and he took himself to Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center, where he is in “stable” condition, police said.

A pair of Fuller Park neighborhood shootings on the South Side left two men injured Wednesday morning.

At 10:05 a.m. a 25-year-old man was shot in the hip in the 4700 block of South Shields Avenue, police said. He took himself to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he is in good condition, police said.

Minutes earlier, a 32-year-old man was seriously wounded when he was shot in the abdomen about 10 a.m. in the 4400 block of South Princeton Avenue, police said. He walked into Provident Hospital of Cook County and was later taken to Stroger in serious condition, police said.

Wednesday’s first shooting happened about midnight in Englewood, where a 16-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen while standing in the 7200 block of South Union Avenue, police said. He was listed in serious condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
