LOWELL, Ind. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man was killed in a motorcycle crash Sunday evening near Lowell, Ind.

The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. when a man driving a motorcycle lost control and crashed in the 22100 block of U.S. Route 41 in Lowell, Lake County Sheriff’s police said in a release.

The driver and sole occupant, 61-year-old Adam Szecpanck, suffered blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Lake County Coroner’s office.

Szecpanck lived in the 6700 block of West 157th Place in Lowell, authorities said. He was not wearing a helmet, according to sheriff’s police.

Officers found tire marks in the gravel shoulder and believe the driver was heading south in the outer lane when the motorcycle left the roadway to the west, police said.

Authorities do not yet know what caused the crash and continue to investigate, the release said.
