CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

The political past, present and future; all three were on display Friday night at the ‘Paris Club’ in downtown Chicago.

Bill Clinton was the guest star at a campaign fundraiser for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who at one time was Clinton’s white house aide. Contribution levels to get into the party ranged from $500 to $5300 per person.

Friday afternoon, Clinton visited an early childhood learning center that serves low-income families on the city's South Side. It opened in February with funding help from the city.

Clinton and Emanuel spent time with the children and read books. Early education is a focus of Clinton’s foundation.

“Investing in high-quality early childhood education is essential to our children’s future success,” Mayor Emanuel said in a statement. “I have set a goal for the children of the City of Chicago to graduate 100 percent college ready and 100 percent college bound. Early learning provides a lasting foundation for our children as being ready for the first day of college starts with being ready for the first day of first grade.”

Clinton was impressed with the Chicago kids' skills, and the investment the city has made in them.
