3 steps to giving dad a clean, healthy face for Father's Day

Posted: Updated:
How about giving Dad the gift of a beautiful face for Father's Day? Here's he three things he needs.

Step 1

Dermatologist Steve Grekin says even the most manly of men need to find a gentle touch when washing the face.

He recommends Dove Sensitive Skin Nourishing Body Wash.

"The first ingredient is water. The second is glycerin, and what you see that's missing that's in so many other products, is sodium laurrel sulfate. ... It's not really good. It plugs up the pores. Even if you're not prone to acne it can sort of clog the skin. The skin doesn't breathe. It can't rejuvenate itself. We want something that nourishes the skin so that the skin cells can reproduce and keep Dad looking good," Grekin says.

Step 2

If you're going to jump on this path to younger looking skin you might want to take a cue from women.

"One day five years ago my daughter saw me putting on some stuff and she said, 'Are those your creams or mommy's creams?' Well, hey, I was busted," says Grekin.

You have to moisturize your skin so when your buddies aren't around sneak a little Oil of Olay into your cart.

"Green tea, we all know that this is a really potent antioxidant. Oxidative stress is one of the things that ages us and, more importantly, they have on here animo-peptides. These are proteins, these are the building blocks of collagen and elastin, the things that really help us prevent getting wrinkles," Grekin says.

Step 3

You need to protect your skin from the sun. Pick a sunscreen you like and stick with it.

"The key to this is you're now washing skin the right way, you're now trying to heal the skin make it look young so you don't want the rays that actually can age the skin to get to the skin. So, we have to remember the third step is to protect the skin," Grekin says.

If you're worried Dad won't be thrilled with soap, moisturizer and sunscreen on Father's Day, add just a few more goodies to the pile.
