Police surround Chatham neighborhood home

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

One person is in custody after police surrounded a Chatham neighborhood home for more than two hours Tuesday evening on the South Side.

Police responded about 4:40 p.m. to a home in the 8600 block of South Ingleside Avenue, police said.

Police did not specify why they responded, but according to unconfirmed dispatch reports a SWAT team and the police Hostage/Barricaded/Terrorism unit have been called to the scene.

The scene was secured early Tuesday night and one person was taken into police custody.
