Morgan Freeman accepts award in Chicago

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

From teaching us that hope can set us free, to providing the toys for Batman, from showing us what was in the box, to being the man upstairs, legendary Oscar winner Morgan Freeman has won over audiences with his smooth demeanor, his undeniable poise, and of course, that voice.

This weekend, he was awarded the Renaissance Award by the Gene Siskel film center here in Chicago, honoring a lifetime spent creating classic films and memorable characters.

FOX 32's Jake Hamilton spoke with Mr. Freeman moments before the award presentation. He told Jake which of his classic films he’d most be willing to sit down and watch one more time.

And while he’s already been recognized with an Oscar, Freeman said success as an actor comes from not being recognized at all.

But one thing that will always be recognizable is that voice – in fact, the first time Jake ever interviewed Freeman, he asked him to read his eulogy so it could be played at his funeral.

So, Jake wanted to know who he’d like to return the favor. Watch the video to find out!
