Drone sparks assault on Conn. beach

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - A woman in Connecticut called police to report a man who was taking pictures of people on the beach with a camera mounted on a drone. The woman, however, ends up arrested for what she does next.

The reported drone hobbyist was taking the photos on May 12 when the woman contacts cops.

“He’s taking pictures of people on the beach with a helicopter camera," said the woman identified by the Daily Mail as Andrea Mears, 23.

Once she gets off the phone she goes into what could be described as a rage.

In video taken on the sly by the man on his iPhone, there is a confrontation and he ends up on the ground. The woman is seen pulling his shirt, grabbing his face and seems to have him in a leg lock.

"If you weren’t assaulting me I wouldn’t be touching you," says the man.

He does not appear to strike back.

“That’s what you get you little pervert," says Mears.  The man yells for her stop and calls out for help.

The video ends when the woman gets up to answer the phone.

Police arrived, were shown the video and Mears was arrested.

Privacy issues surrounding drones are becoming a larger issue, especially as they become less expensive.  A $49.99 drone kit is for sale now that will even turn a paper airplane into a drone.

Most of the shows are free and are funded by tickets purchased for the some of the bigger acts.
