PORT BARRINGTON, Ill. (Sun Times Media Wire) -

Police are investigating a report of a child who may have been abducted in northwest suburban Port Barrington, though they have no reports of a missing boy.

About 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, authorities were notified of a “suspicious incident” in Fox Trail Park, off of Willow Street in Port Barrington, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s office.

Two children told sheriff’s deputies that they saw their friend, Kyle, on a yellow bicycle on the bike path. A man followed Kyle on the path, and the children did not see either again, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

The children did not see the man take Kyle, but neither returned to the park. However, the sheriff’s office has not received any reports of a missing child, and has not been able to identify the boy.

The McHenry County Emergency Management Agency Search Team, Island Lake police, and K-9 units searched the area, but did not find the boy.

The sheriff’s office also contacted local school and village officials, sent out reverse 911 calls, conducted neighborhood canvasses, and shared information through Nixle and social media.

No evidence of an abduction was found, and the boy has not located, the statement said.

Kyle is described as a 4-foot-6, 80-pound boy with blond hair, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information about Kyle is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (815) 338-2144.
