From Blackhawks to Bears, Chicago's recovery begins

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

If there's one town that's surely looking past the Blackhawks already, it's Bourbonnais, where Jay Cutler and gang will report to training camp next month.

The Blackhawks defeat is still fresh in the minds of many Chicagoans, but at Brickstone's Restaurant in Bourbonnais on Monday, some Hawks fans were saying, "time for the Bears."

”Yes, we're moving forward, [and] ready for the Bears,” said Chicago fan Marvin Thomas.

Another fan, Stacy Rose, chimed in, “Win or lose, you move on. That’s how it works.”

The Bears practice field was empty with not a soul in the bleachers. However, at nearby T.J. Donlins Tavern, a Bears flag was hung up right next to the Blackhawks flag.

“It was very exciting for the Hawks, but nobody beats the Bears. Not even the Cubs and Sox,” said T.J. Donlins co-owner Tom Richmond.

FOX 32’s Larry Yellen asked one bartender who works at T.J. Donlins how long it takes them to get over the Hawks and start thinking about the Bears.

“I don't think very long at all,” responded Jennifer Meeker while laughing.

The Bears will report for training camp on July 24, which is just 52 days away. The Bears season opener at Soldier Field is September 7, which is 96 days away.

Blackhawks fan Matt Hill of nearby Bradley is moving on, but not quite yet to the Bears.

“I shaved off my playoff mustache right after the game, to hopefully move on. I know my wife was happy about that,” Hill said.

Hill also said the pain of last night’s defeat won’t disappear until the Bears actually arrive next month.

“It'll be until the Bears check in down here that I get over this one. You don't get that close and have it pulled out from under you, and move on that easy,” added Hill.
