Fans coping with Hawks hangover after heartbreaking OT loss

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - Blackhawks fans across the city were suffering from a hockey hangover hangover Monday morning after Sunday night's heartbreaking overtime loss to the Kings.

Alec Martinez scored at 5:47 of overtime, and the Los Angeles Kings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 in Game 7 of the Western Conference finals Sunday night.

The game made for a long, disappointing night for fans. Hawks fans left the United Center Sunday night with long faces and heavy hearts. Many fans told FOX 32 News they assumed the Hawks would pull through and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. And Monday morning, Chicagoans were feeling the aftermath of the game.

"I'm feeling a little subdued. We thought we were going to do it in Game 7, overtime. It was a great year for the Hawks though,"  Hawks fan Mike said at the Palace Grill Monday morning.

"It went into seven games and they played hard. It's hard to lose in OT like that. It kind of breaks my heart as a fan. But what are you going to do, there is always next year," another fan said.

The game may have been tough to watch, but there is no doubt the season was a great one and the future looks bright for the beloved Hawks.

"We will be back next year," Mike said.
