WAUKEGAN, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A north suburban man and his cousin are expected to be sentenced to lengthy prison terms next month for a kidnapping, rape and beating in 2013, the News-Sun is reporting.

Jerimiah Cochran, 34, of Waukegan, convicted last week of one count of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, faces up to 90 years in prison at his sentencing, to be scheduled during a hearing June 16.

His cousin, Natilie Myers, 32, also of Waukegan, is scheduled to be sentenced June 3. She pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping. Initially charged with aggravated kidnapping, she pleaded guilty to the lesser charge in exchange for her testimony at Cochran’s trial. She still faces up to 10 years.

According to authorities, Cochran forcibly abducted his former girlfriend on Jan. 25, 2013, in front of their two children while they were visiting a relative.

Police said Cochran dragged her to a car where Myers was waiting. They drove to a residence in the 1400 block of 16th street in North Chicago, where she was subjected to repeated beatings and rape over a 21-hour period.

“It was brutal,” Assistant State’s Attorney Matt DeMartini said.

DeMartini said Cochran struck the woman with a bottle, beat her with his hands until he injured himself, then beat her with a table while she was held captive. He also raped her and unsuccessfully tried to pull out her teeth, DeMartini said.

After 21 hours, when Cochran left the room, she was able to escape through a window wearing only a T-shirt. She was hospitalized for days but has completely recovered, DeMartini said.

Investigators said blood covered the walls and carpet of the room where the woman, who testified during Cochran’s trial last week, was held captive.

While a motive was not clearly identified, DeMartini noted Cochran had been convicted of domestic battery against the woman in the past, and she had an order of protection against him when she was kidnapped, according to court records.

Cochran has been held in the Lake County Jail since his arrest on a $1 million bond, which was revoked following his conviction.
