3 to stand trial for Bloomfield Hills attorney shooting

Posted: Updated:
Four suspects charged in connection with the shooting of an attorney from Bloomfield Hills were in court Wednesday for a preliminary examination.

Now charged is the alleged gunman, Devon Miller, his friend Henry Williams and the accused ringleader Cassandra Chobod who told police she had a relationship with David Zacks after meeting him at a strip club and had been to his home multiple times.

Christopher Hernandez Montiel, also charged, says he was the driver that night and testified against the other defendants in exchange for a lesser charge. He testified Chobad knew where the safes were and that she had the combinations, and that Chobad had told him Zacks was not supposed to be home.

Hernandez Montiel says when they arrived at Zacks' home his codefendants realized Zacks and his family were there so they drove to Miller's cousin's house in Detroit instead. Montiel testified the change of plans was to go get a gun.

After that, investigators say they returned to the Zacks home where Miller demanded to be let in. Hernandez Montiel says he waited in the car and heard the gunshots that left Zacks wounded and bleeding.

The 911 call from Zacks' wife was played in court.

The defendants were bound over with the exception of Hernandez Montiel.
