CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A female driver is lucky to be alive after a deer fell from an overpass and landed on her vehicle Sunday afternoon.

According to the Daily Herald, 37-year-old Heidi Conner was on her way back from a road trip with her four children when the deer crashed through her windshield. As she describes it, the deer "fell from the sky."

She was driving on the Jane Adams Tollway near Hoffman Estates when the deer jumped off the Route 72 overpass.

Officials say Heidi was going 70 mph at the time of the accident. She was able to maneuver her car across three lanes of traffic. Heidi says she doesn't even remember crossing traffic to bring her car and children to safety.

When she got out of the car, the deer was hanging out of her windshield.

Thankfully, no one was seriously injured in the crash - Heidi only suffered a minor injury to her shoulder.

"I truly feel blessed to be alive," Heidi told the Daily Herald. "I value life a little differently now. I'm just really grateful."

The deer, which weighed between 200 and 300 pounds, did not survive the fall.
