Woman fatally struck by train near Arlington Park

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A woman was fatally struck by a train Wednesday morning near Arlington Park.

Train No. 622 fatally struck a pedestrian about 7:30 a.m., according to Metra spokesman Tom Miller. The incident happened at Northwest Highway and Rohlwing Road in Palatine, near the Arlington Park race course.

The woman has been identified as 34-year-old Barbara Scoglietti, of the 200 block of South Park Lane in Palatine, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. She was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:56 a.m. Wednesday, the medical examiner’s office said.

Trains were temporarily halted in both directions after the crash, according to Metra.
