Lanes closures on I-190 start Tuesday night

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - Lanes on Interstate 190 will be closed overnight for about two weeks, starting Tuesday night.

All but one lane on I-190 in both directions will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. every night until June 8, weather permitting, as Illinois Department of Transportation workers install temporary overhead cables for O’Hare’s Airport Transit Service train, according to a statement from the city’s Department of Aviation.

Entrance ramps will also be closed for southbound Mannheim Road to westbound I-190, and for northbound Bessie Coleman Drive to eastbound I-190 until about 5 a.m. for the next 12 days, the statement said.

People heading to O’Hare between those hours should allow extra time for travel, the department advised.

Detour signs will also be in place and route drivers to the airport through Bessie Coleman Drive, Zemke Road and Mannheim Road, the statement said.
