Neighbors feud with Vinsetta Garage over parking

Posted: Updated:
BERKLEY, Mich. (WJBK) - A popular restaurant in Berkley is at the center of a battle over parking.

Neighbors of the auto-themed hot spot Vinsetta Garage plan to protest at Berkley's City Hall meeting Tuesday night. They say they're fed up with restaurant patrons parking and littering on the side streets.

They tell FOX 2's Erika Erickson they're not thrilled at the fact Vinsetta's owner, Curt Catallo, also owns three homes behind the restaurant. He says he hopes to demolish them and replace them with a parking lot.

Neighbors say they worry that would lower their property values.

Meanwhile, Vinsetta spends $54,000 a year on complimentary valet parking.

"We really, really, really understand where they're coming from and we plan on making sure that we can keep everyone happy and meet goals that everyone is satisfied with," says Catallo.

He along with neighbors are planning to attend the City Hall meeting. It is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
