CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man is charged with DUI in connection with a West Side crash Sunday that left a 29-year-old woman dead.

Regina Jordan was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital after the SUV she was in collided with a viaduct about 5:15 a.m. Sunday in the 4500 block of West Cermak Road, authorities said.

Jordan, of the 1700 block of North Menard Avenue, was pronounced dead at 9:42 a.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

An autopsy conducted Saturday indicated Jordan died from complications of multiple injuries due to an automobile striking a fixed object, according to the medical examiner’s office. Her death was ruled an accident.

The man driving the 2001 BMW X5, 28-year-old Kristan Malone, was apparently speeding when he lost control of the SUV and crashed into the viaduct, police said. He was also taken to Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

Malone, of the 4200 block of West 21st Place, was charged Monday with one felony count of aggravated DUI, as well as misdemeanor counts of DUI and driving on a suspended license, police said. He was also cited for failing to reduce speed and driving without insurance, police said.

He was released from the hospital Tuesday and taken to Cook County Jail, police said.

Malone was ordered held on $150,000 bond during a hearing Tuesday, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s office. He is next scheduled to appear in court April 26.
