CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Six Flags Great America is starting off the summer in perfect fashion.

Beginning May 24 through the 25, an all-day block party style festival will be held in Hometown Square called "Rock the Block."

The event will feature different culinary options, live bands such as Modern Day Romeos, fireworks at night, and the debut of a new nighttime parade called "Six Flags Grand Finale."

There will also be a funnel cake eating contest that park guests can take part in. The winner will receive a 2014 season pass. Those who want to compete will have to register in Hometown Square at 10:30 a.m. and be at least 18-years-old to enter.

Guests interested in attending "Rock the Block" can buy tickets at the front gate or through the ticket page.

For more information, visit the event page at Six Flag’s website.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor will also open this weekend.
