CPD warns of Blue Line sex assault

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

An alert has been released regarding an attempted criminal sexual assault of a woman getting off the CTA Blue Line.

The release is notifying residents of the near west 012th District of the attempted assault that happened on the 900 block of West Van Buren Street. It occurred May 20th around 12:18 a.m.

The offender followed a 19-year-old girl from the Lake Street station while she was riding the Blue Line. The man attempted to assault her after she got off the train. The victim was able to get away safely and contact police.

The suspect is described as a black male whose age is late teens to early twenties. His height is about 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-6, weighing 160 to 170 pounds with black hair. He was wearing a black shirt that had a white and red logo, dark pants and shoes, as well as a dark backpack.

Police remind you to always be aware of your surroundings, walk in pairs of groups and dial 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activity.
