Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A reward is being offered for any information leading to the arrest of who is responsible for stealing 13 rifles from a train freight container in Chicago.

The reward is being offered by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Chicago Police Department and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF).

The total reward would be $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons. ATF is offering 5,000 and the NSSF is matching that.

The ATF and NSSF have been working much closer together in cases regarding stolen firearms from federally licensed firearm retailers.

Between May 4 and 6, thirteen (13) Smith & Wesson M&P Sport Rifles were stolen from a Norfolk Southern freight container while it was parked in a rail yard. The rail yard is located in the 6100 block of South Lafayette.

Anyone with information should call 1-844-CHI-ATF1 or 312-846-8870. All phone calls will be kept private.
