CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

An Edgewater man was killed in a motorcycle crash early Monday in the Budlong Woods neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The 28-year-old man, identified as Oleg Kusaev, was driving north “at a high rate of speed” about 12:40 a.m. in the 5500 block of North Lincoln Avenue, when his motorcycle struck a curb near the intersection of West Catalpa Avenue and he was ejected, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Kusaev, who lived in the 5400 block of North Sheridan Road, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 1:23 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.

An autopsy performed Monday found Kusaev died of cervical spinal injuries he suffered in the motorcycle crash, and his death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and no one else was hurt, police said.

The police Major Accident Investigations Unit is handling the case.
