DEERFIELD, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Authorities have identified a man whose body was recovered from a pond Friday morning in a north suburban Deerfield subdivision.

Deerfield resident Brian Grundei, 45, drowned in the pond in the 400 block of Kelburn Road, according to the Lake County Coroner’s office. A toxicology report that will take several weeks to complete is pending, the Pioneer Press is reporting.

A dive team from the Deerfield Bannockburn Fire Protection District responded to the scene about 8:30 a.m. near the Coromandel subdivision, officials said. No foul play is suspected, police said.

“One of our firefighters retrieved the victim in a water rescue suit,” Deputy Fire Chief Ray Larson said. “When we got there we recovered an adult male and determined it was a police matter.”

Deerfield police are investigating.
