April showers bring May.... snow

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - FOX 32 News received several reports of snow in the Chicagoland area Friday morning.

The snow was seen in the northwest suburbs including Algonquin, Sycamore and DeKalb. The chance for snow in the area is only expected to last until about 9 a.m.

Even though the downtown area is “one of the warmer spots” in the northern Illinois area, the temperature of about 40 degrees at 6 a.m. could be a good environment to support frozen precipitation, National Weather Service Meteorologist Matt Friedlein said.

A high of 48 degrees is expected for later in the day, according to the weather service. Friedlein says commuters shouldn’t worry too much about the potential wintry mix. Any snow that falls won’t be heavy enough to stick to the ground or make roads more slick than rain will.
