The Wash House

Coffee, beer and laundry all in one place

Posted:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The reaction Lee Kerzner gets when New Yorkers find out about his East Village café called the Wash House: "That's such a good idea" or "I had that idea!"

"We serve as a coffee shop during the day, we do beer and wine at night, and we do your laundry for you," he says.

Lee thought of the million-dollar idea in college when a laundromat owner allowed him to bring a keg in while he and his friends did their wash.

About a month ago he made his business a reality.

Bring in your laundry, get a ticket, then you grab a cup of joe while you're there.

"We roast our own coffee in Brooklyn," he says. "It's Little Fox Coffee."

You can munch on a gourmet grilled cheese and wash it all down with a locally brewed beer and make some new friends.

The wash-and-fold service is $1 per pound. At these prices, what's not to love?

The Wash House plans to expand and add self-serve laundry machines.

The saying art is autobiographical takes on a whole new meaning when your canvas is a fully nude human body, as it is for artist Andy Golub. Andy along with 30 other artists and 45 Technicolor models paraded around several Manhattan hotspots over the weekend for NYC Body Painting day. Believe or not, this is completely legal in New York City.
