CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A person rescued a 3-year-old boy from an SUV that caught fire after crashing into a building late Sunday.

The SUV crashed into a vacant building in the 2000 block of West 59th Street around 11:45 p.m., police said.

Police say the driver of the vehicle ran from the SUV on foot after the crash. A passerby saw a child in the vehicle, took him out and started performing CPR.

By the time police arrived on the scene, the child had been resuscitated and the SUV had burst into flames, police said.

Police say the boy was resuscitated and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

Police learned the car was stolen and located the boy’s mother, who knows the person who crashed the car.

Officers are still searching for the driver that crashed the vehicle.
