CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Authorities have identified a man whose body was recovered from a lagoon in the North Side Lincoln Park neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

He was identified as 27-year-old John Hardy, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office said. His home address was not immediately available.

He was pulled from the lagoon about 2:10 p.m. near the 2400 block of North Lake Shore Drive, police said.

Hardy was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

An autopsy Thursday was inconclusive pending further studies, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area Central detectives are conducting a death investigation.
