CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are searching for a woman who went missing after she became upset and ran away from an eviction process.

The mother of Tearon Sims, 18, told police her daughter has the diminished mental capacity similar to that of a child, but that it has not been medically verified, according to a missing person alert from Area North detectives.

Sims was staying in the 900 block of North Drake Avenue, and went missing after she became upset and ran away from an eviction process, the alert said.

She may be at the Franciscan House shelter, in the 2700 block of West Harrison Street, police said.

Sims is described as a 5-foot, 120-pound black woman with brown eyes, black hair and a light complexion, the alert said.

She has some acne marks, and was last seen wearing a Bulls cap, a navy blue pea coat, hot pink leggings and green shoes, the alert said.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact detectives at (312) 744-8200.
