One man is dead and another injured after a shooting in the Englewood neighborhood Monday night.

Jerald Cahoun, 29, of the 700 block of West 59th Street, was shot and killed less than a mile from his home, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

About 7:30 p.m., Calhoun and a 35-year-old man were in a vehicle travelling southbound on Morgan Street - near 59th Street - when a white car pulled alongside it and someone inside opened fire, police said.

Calhoun was shot in the chest and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m., authorities said.

Meanwhile, the 35-year-old was shot in the right leg and taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center in good condition.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
